In the 2020 September term, the Rusinga Schools Languages Department in senior school participated in a unique essay writing contest with an affiliation under the Harvard university umbrella called the Global Women’s Empowerment forum. The is with the aim to continue inculcating in our learners the power of communication through enhancing the five major pillars of communication, that is: the thought,language, reading, writing and speaking. Rusinga Schools is the first school in Africa to take part in this noble exercise.
We had nine of our students taking part. All of them are in the process of receiving their certificates of participation.
Faith Kuria of year 13 who emerged winner of the contest did not only build her resume’ while at the same time receiving a prize, but also automatically joined the Facebook forum for the Global essay writing contest, where she will be a participant in the already existing vibrant platform that voices out the main issues affecting different parts of the world. She will also be part of a team, under the same umbrella, mentoring the incoming contestants across the world. Her essay is in the process of being published in the Harvard essay writing global contest website as well. With these achievements, a bright future awaits her.
